Re: Cracked fruit cakeI spoon several tablespoons of sherry over my cake after it is removed from the oven and that helps retain moisture ( and adds flavour) as it cools and seals the crack.
HOW TO SOAK FRUIT FOR CHRISTMAS CAKE?
- Mix all the chopped dried fruits well in a bowl, transfer it to a glass jar (do not use plastic/stainless steel or aluminum container)
- Pour alcohol over it just enough to soak the dried fruits. Cover and store at room temperature until further use.
