2-Ingredient White Clay Dough

- 3/4 cup of warm water.

Sand particles are the biggest and weigh more than silt - so the bottom layer will be the sand part of the soil. Silt particles are smaller than sand and weigh less so they appear over the sand. If you were able to separate out any clay particles they are the smallest and will be on top.

- Fill three buckets with dirt.
- Fill one bucket with sand.
- Fill one bucket with lime.
- Mix the dirt, sand and lime thoroughly.
- Dump or scoop the dirt, sand and lime mixture into the desired area.
- Level out the surface of the mixture.
Avoid building on top of fill dirt. If you need to build on fill, use compacted gravel for fill rather than dirt. Compacted gravel will settle less than dirt. It may be possible to build on soft ground if you take extra precautions such as grade beams to make sure your foundation footings are supported by solid ground.
How Can Sludge Be Removed?
- Sludge digesting bacteria. Some strains of packaged bacteria are more suited to existing build up of pond sludge.
- Nets. If the debris is mostly leaves that are not yet decayed you may be able to remove some by scooping it out with a pond net.
- Pond vacuum.
- Siphon.
- Complete pond drain.
The following are the common methods of water purification.
- Boiling. This is a reliable way to purify water.
- Use of Iodine solution, tablets or crystals. This is an effective and more convenient method.
- Use chlorine drops. Chlorine has the ability to kill bacteria in water.
- Use water filter.
- Use Ultraviolet Light.
Use natural methods like barley straw, plants, and biofilters to keep your pond clean. Ultraviolet clarifiers, pond treatments, and gypsum are also useful for keeping the water clean and clear. Finally, empty the pond at least once a year by removing all plants, water, and fish before refilling it.
