If you are visiting the Pilbara region access from Perth is via two major sealed roads - the North West Coastal Highway and the inland Great Northern Highway. From Broome, take the Great Northern Highway or the unsealed Gibb River Road to head east to Kununurra.
How do I get to the Bungle Bungles? Access to the park by road is via Spring Creek Track, from the Great Northern Highway approximately 250km south of Kununurra, through Mabel Downs cattle station to the track's end at the Purnululu National Park Visitor Centre.
Larrawa Station; a great camping option between Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing. The drive between Broome and Kununurra is roughly 1050km by bitumen along the Great Northern Highway or 920km by the gravel on the Gibb River Road.
The best way to get from Kununurra to Broome is to fly which takes 2h 1m and costs $260 - $850. Alternatively, you can bus, which costs $150 - $300 and takes 13h 20m.
To get into Purnululu National Park, you can drive or fly. The road is only suitable for 4WD vehicles and takes 2 -3 hours to drive the 53 km into the park from the Great Northern Highway. If you have the time and the inclination to adventure in by road, it is absolutely worth it. The road is called Spring Creek Track.

The only sizeable towns along that distance are Karratha and Pt Hedland. IMO Karratha is a more presentable town than Pt Hedland.
For those looking for a total beach experience, Coral Bay wins hands down. For those wanting more to do, bushwalks, exploring the national park, nice accommodation and restaurants with a few beach activites tossed in for good measure, Exmouth is the better option.

Swimming in Lake Argyle is amazing, beautiful freshwater and the temperature is warm to mild all year round – just perfect! If you are unable to get out on a boat you can swim at the boat ramp or there is a bushwalk that leads to the edge of the lake just below the village.
