Setting the Timer
- To begin, press the MENU button.
- Select System.
- Scroll down.
- Select Time.
- Select Sleep Timer.
- Here, you can set the amount of time the TV will stay on before it turns off automatically.
- To set up a schedule for the TV to automatically turn on at a specific time, select On Timer.
- Select one of the On Timer options.

Televisions draw a considerable amount of power, and any interruption can cause the television to turn off on its own. Homes that supply inconsistent electricity can sometimes cause a television to go off on its own, but there are normally other clear signals that the home's electrical system is faulty.
Main Board Problems. A Digital Light Processing, or DLP, TV, uses a main board to project the image on the TV screen. If the board goes bad inside the TV, it can cause the electrical components to overheat, which in turn can cause the TV to power off by itself.
For Sony's Android TVs: Press the HOME button > [Settings]* > [Power] > [Eco] > and then choose your desired option. When you select [Picture Off], only sound remains. Turns the TV off after it has been idle for a preset time. Turns the TV off when there is no signal from the PC input source for 30 seconds.

To set the sleep timer
Sleep timer automatically turns off the TV after a preset time. Press the HOME button, select (Apps icon) from the Home menu, and select [Timers] — [Sleep timer] — the desired option from the apps list.Open the Clock app and go to the Timer tab. Set the timer to match your Netflix time. Tap the 'When timer ends' option, scroll down the list of alert tones and tap 'Stop Playing' at the end. Watch Netflix or any other video streaming app like YouTube.
Android TV model released in 2016:
- Press the HOME button on the remote.
- Select Timers in the Settings category.
- Select Timer.
- Set On timer to On then press the Enter button.
- Set the desired Day, Time, Duration and other settings.
What Is OSD Timeout? Browsing the menu of a television or DVD player is a common use for an OSD as it displays various information such as picture brightness, volume control, and channel programming. An OSD timeout refers to the time the information remains on screen before it disappears.
Set sleep timer for Android
- Install the application on your phone and then launched it.
- Set the timer via the circular icon and simply click the “Start” button.
- When the time is up, this app will put your device on sleep mode and will stop playing your music.

Using the Sleep Timer
- Press the Home Button on your Samsung Smart Control, to access the Home Screen.
- Using the Directional pad on your remote, navigate to and select Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Time.
- Select Sleep Timer.
- You can set the timer in 30 minute increments, for up to 3 hours. For this demonstration select 90 min.
Models other than Android TV:
- Press the HOME button on the remote.
- Select System Settings. NOTE: Depending on the model, select Set-up - System Settings.
- Select Set-up.
- Select Clock/Timers.
- Set On timer to On.
- Set the desired Day, Time, Duration and other settings.
Parental Controls: Snooze Timer
Now X1 customers can "snooze" parental controls for 1, 2, or 4 hours. When the snooze timer is turned on, parental controls and safe browse settings will be temporarily suspended so that all content is available to view.Using your TV remote, navigate to Settings > General > System Manager > Time > Sleep Timer, and then select the amount of time you would like the TV to stay on before powering itself off. You can set the sleep timer up to 180 minutes, after which the TV will turn off.
Standby. When electronic devices are receiving power but are not running, they are in standby mode. For example, a television is in standby mode when it is plugged in, but turned off. While the TV is not "on," it is ready to receive a signal from the remote control.
