Google Podcasts (formerly Google Play Podcasts) is Google's standalone app for podcasts. The free app for Android and iOS is integrated with both Google Assistant and Google Home and is fairly minimalist, sporting an uncluttered interface and a handful of features. Google Podcasts is also available on the web.
The subscription service, called Pocket Casts Plus, includes access to desktop apps, exclusive app icons and themes, and 10GB of cloud storage for people who want to upload their audio and video content. People who previously purchased the desktop app will be given three years of Pocket Casts Plus for free.

If doing this, you will certainly only be using data when downloading (again, if not already downloading on wifi) and so therefore with access to wifi, can potentially use no data at all to listen to podcasts, it just takes a little prep time in downloading ahead of time rather than on the fly.

Save your podcast.If you are using a manager like iTunes or Zune, you can simply click "save" or "get" next to the episode's name to save it to your computer. Otherwise, you will have to copy the podcast's URL and paste it into your manager.
