Let's explore them, and how to remedy the problems.
- Hood Pin Switches Or Sensors. The single biggest thing that can cause a remote starter not to engage is a faulty or missing hood switch.
- Batteries In Your Remote Control.
- Improper Use.
- Module Reprogramming.
- Valet Mode.
- Remote Starter Switch Is Off.
How to Exit Valet Mode
- Insert your vehicle's key into the ignition and turn to the "ON/RUN" position. Do not crank the engine.
- Press and release the LOCK and TRUNK buttons (I & III) simultaneously.
- Remove the key from the ignition and attempt to remote start your vehicle.
To stop the alarm, press and hold the Alarm button on the transmitter again for 3 seconds. The system will automatically stop after 30 seconds.
Push and hold the programming/valet button. The LED will turn on solid when valet mode is active.
Cause: In most cases, the under-hood pin switch is broken or corroded. Any remote starter must have a method of preventing the vehicle from starting when the hood is open. Without this, a mechanic could be seriously injured if the vehicle was remotely started while they were working on it.
The model number should be located on the control module.
All remote starters, whether from Compustar, Arctic Start, or another brand, draw power from your battery. However, it is still possible for a remote car starter to consume too much power from your battery.
The most common reason for a vehicle to start, then immediately shut off is engine checking. While keeping your foot on the brake, press the remote start button on your remote control for 3 seconds like you are remote starting the vehicle.
RE: How to reprogram central locking key fob (not keys)

The valet button or switch permits the owner to temporarily bypass the alarm functionality of the system.
: The Override/Programming button is a hidden push button switch that can be used to disarm the security system if your remote control transmitter is lost or stolen. To prevent unauthorized use of the override/programming button, the ignition key is also needed to disarm the system or program transmitters.
The valet switch allows you to temporarily bypass all alarm functions, eliminating the need to hand your transmitter to parking attendants or garage mechanics. When the system is in valet mode, all alarm functions are bypassed, however the remote panic feature and remote door locks will remain operational.
It is under driver profiles. Select Valet and enter any 4 digit code to activate it. Use the same code to deactivate it.
Valet mode disables all system features other than lock or unlock; such as, remote start, alarm triggers, and trunk release. Valet mode is used when the vehicle will be operated by someone who is unfamiliar with an Arctic Start system.
Enable Valet ModeIt is a small, black, momentary button that is usually mounted in an accessible, but not obvious location towards the bottom of the driver's side dash. A common location would be on the driver's kick panel cover, or on the side of the center console (if the vehicle has one).
To override the system:
- Open the vehicle door, the alarm will sound.
- Turn the ignition switch to the on position.
- Within 5 seconds, press and release the valet switch. The alarm system will stop sounding and enter the disarmed mode. You can now start and operate the vehicle normally.
