To select a single word, quickly double-click that word. To select a line of text, place your cursor at the start of the line, and press Shift + down arrow. To select a paragraph, place your cursor at the start of the paragraph, and press Ctrl + Shift + down arrow.
To select an entire sentence in Office Word program, hold down the Ctrl key, move the mouse cursor anywhere on the sentence that you would like to select and then click to select to select the whole sentence. You can use left or right Ctrl key on the keyboard.
Click the Replace button in the Editing section on the ribbon — it's under the Home tab. Type the text you want to replace into the “Find what” box, type the text you want to replace it with in the “Replace With” box, and then click the “Replace All” button to replace all of it.
If you want to highlight one word at a time, press Ctrl key while holding down Shift, and then press the left or right arrow key. If you want to highlight a whole line of text, move your cursor to the start of the line, hold the Shift key, and then press the down arrow.
In most programs, pressing Ctrl+A selects (highlights) everything in the current window. For example, while in Microsoft Word if you press the Ctrl+A shortcut key, all text in the document would be selected. In Explorer, pressing Ctrl+A selects all drives, files, and folders in the open location.
Select multiple files or folders that are not grouped together
- Click the first file or folder, and then press and hold the Ctrl key.
- While holding down the Ctrl key, click each of the other files or folders you want to select.
Click once on the first image, press and hold down the “Ctrl” key and then click once on each other image. When they're all selected, click the “Insert” button and the to-be-merged pictures open together on the page, but not yet merged. Select multiple adjacent shapes or objects at once:1.
To select items that are not next to each other, follow these steps:
- Select the first item that you want. For example, select some text.
- Press and hold CTRL.
- Select the next item that you want. Important Be sure to press and hold CTRL while you select the next item that you want to include in the selection.
Press “Ctrl-C” on the keyboard to copy everything highlighted. Right-click on the page and then select “Copy” in the right-click menu to copy everything highlighted.
How to Delete Multiple Files in Windows
- Click the first file you want to delete to select it.
- Hold down the "CTRL" key on your keyboard.
- Click the other files you wish to delete while continuing to hold down the "CTRL" key. This will select multiple files at once. Release the "CTRL" key and then press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.
First click on any object to select it. Then hold down Shift or Command and drag-click to get a selection box which will select the rest of the objects.
To select non-consecutive files or folders, hold down CTRL, and then click each item you want to select or use the check-boxes. To select all of the files or folders, on the toolbar, click Organize, and then click Select All.
Modify a Heading Style
Click the "Home" tab. Right-click the heading style that you want to modify in the Styles section and select “Modify” to open the Modify Style dialog box. Make any desired changes to the font style, font size, or color of the heading in the Formatting section.
