Use the Close Friends list for friends who should show up more in News Feed. Use the Acquaintances list for friends who should show up less in News Feed. Use the Restricted list for friends who can only see posts and profile info you make public.
How can I tell if a friend has restricted me from seeing their posts? The only way you can tell for sure is to ask someone else if they can see any posts from that person. If they can see posts that you can't, then you'll know that person has blocked you from seeing their posts.
Restricting someone means that the person will only see your public posts - they will only be able to see your posts when you choose Public as the audience, or when you tag them in the post. However, if you add a photo and tag your boss in that photo, or chose Public as the audience, they'll be able to see it.”
When you add someone to your Restricted list, you'll still be friends with them on Facebook, but they'll only be able to see your public information (example: your posts and profile info you choose to make public) and posts you tag them in. What will people on my Restricted list see when I share posts?
No notification is made when you put a friend on one of your lists (or remove them from a list). The friend you put on the restricted list may notice that they are only able to see Public posts of yours.
Unfortunately, Facebook settings allow only one of two options: you can either let all of your friends (including acquaintances) post on your timeline, or no one but you would be able to.
Nadia, the only way anyone on your "restricted" list could see your friends list would be if you have your privacy setting on your friends list set to "public".
Select Likes. Select the level of privacy you want for the like visibility of the category. Your options include: Public, Friends, Friends except acquaintances, Only Me, and Custom. If you want to hide your likes from everyone but yourself, choose Only Me.
When someone tags you in a post, it will be visible to: The audience selected by the person who made the post. The audience you indicate in your Timeline and Tagging settings. You can choose to automatically add your friends, select specific friends or not add anyone to the audience of the post you're tagged in.
When you place a friend in your Restricted list they will only be able to see items/posts on YOUR Timeline that have a Public privacy. When you post on someone else's Timeline, they determine who can see the post. Your privacy settings only apply to your Timeline and the photos you upload.
Facebook will then show you what your profile looks like to the average user, with whom you're not friends. You can scroll down your timeline to see which posts are viewable to the public, and take a look through your photos, "about" section, Likes, etc.
Officially you don't/can't know it, but sometimes FB reveal that when someone set their post to allow only Close friends to see it, ie. when we put our cursor to the audience setting of the post, we see Close Friends and then the names of those in there.
Facebook friends added to your Acquaintances list will be able to see your photos, unless you have your privacy settings on those photos set as Custom: Friends except Acquaintances. When you choose the Custom privacy setting, you can selectively share something with specific people, or hide it from specific people.
