To make all rows in the table the same height, select Layout > Distribute Rows. To make all the columns in the table the same height, select Layout > Distribute Columns.

Align an object on the slide
- Hold down Shift , click the objects that you want to align, and then click the Shape Format tab.
- Click Align > Align to Slide.
- Click Align, and then click the alignment that you want.
If you want to align text or objects in PowerPoint, you can use several keyboard shortcuts.
To use keyboard shortcuts to align text in a placeholder or text box, select the text and then use the press the following keys:
- Ctrl + E to center text.
- Ctrl + L to left align text.
- Ctrl + R to right align text.
Measure the precise distance between objects
- If they are not displayed, turn on guides. How? Click Grid and Guides on the View menu.
- Position a guide where you want to begin measuring.
- Press SHIFT as you drag the guide to where you want to stop measuring. As you drag, the measurement appears over an arrow on the guide.
Click the Drawing Tools Format tab. In the Shape Styles group, click the More button to open the Shape Styles gallery. See this figure. Select Moderate Effect, Plum, Accent 1.
Select the object or objects you want to arrange. Click the Format tab under Drawing or Picture Tools. Click the stacking option you want. Click the Bring to Front button arrow, and then click Bring to Front or Bring Forward to move a drawing to the top of the stack or up one location in the stack.
Click on an image, select Size and then select Position. Here you can manually change the horizontal and vertical position on the slide by putting your cursor in the text box and typing in a numerical value up to two decimal points. Right-click the border of the shape or text box. On the shortcut menu, click Format Shape, and then click Text Box in the left pane. Under Text layout, select the option that you want in the Vertical alignment list.
Click the table that you want to resize. Under Table Tools, on the Layout tab, in the Table Size group, enter the size that you want in the Height and Width boxes. To maintain the same ratio between the height and width of the table when you resize it, select the Lock Aspect Ratio check box.

Use Table Styles to format an entire table
- Click in the table that you want to format.
- Under Table Tools, click the Design tab.
- In the Table Styles group, rest the pointer over each table style until you find a style that you want to use.
- Click the style to apply it to the table.
When you select a table in PowerPoint 2010, Design and Layout tabs appear under Table Tools on the Ribbon. Using commands on the Layout tab, you can make a variety of modifications to the table.
Change the column width to automatically fit the contents (AutoFit)
- Select the column or columns that you want to change.
- On the Home tab, in the Cells group, click Format.
- Under Cell Size, click AutoFit Column Width.
Insert a column break
- Place your cursor where you want the column to break.
- Click Layout > Breaks. In Word 2013 or Word 2010, click Page Layout > Breaks.
- A menu with options will appear. Click Column.
- A column break is inserted. Click Home > Show/Hide. to see it.
Select a column or a range of columns. On the Home tab, in the Cells group, select Format > Column Width. Type the column width and select OK.
Tight the spacing for text inside a cell
- Right-click inside the cell you want to change, and click Format Cells.
- On the Alignment tab, change Vertical to Top, Center, or Bottom, depending on where you want your text to be placed inside the cell.
- Click OK. Your text is now aligned and evenly spaced where you wanted it.

Select one or more rows and columnsSelect the letter at the top to select the entire column. Or click on any cell in the column and then press Ctrl + Space.
Click anywhere in the table. In "Table Tools" click the [Layout] tab > locate the "Cell Size" group and choose from of the following options: To fit the columns to the text (or page margins if cells are empty), click [AutoFit] > select "AutoFit Contents."
