Aside from that $100,000 cash prize at the end of it all, contestants on The Voice do receive money from the show. But they don't get paid in the same way that the coaches of the show or staff get paid. According to Newsweek, they do get a stipend, not a paycheck. Although it's unclear just how much the stipend is.
That's because the blind auditions are taped in advance, and don't necessarily air in the order they occurred. So even though the auditions are not filmed in one day, the coaches wear the same clothes throughout the blinds in order to maintain continuity.
The show operates on two types of episodes — pre-recorded and live. The blind auditions, battle, and knockout rounds are all pre-recorded (typically while the previous season is airing). Then the show switches to its live format where the singers compete live so that the country can vote on their favorites.
The blind auditions began on March 1, 2021, and concluded on March 22, 2021. Each coach has one block to stop another coach from getting an artist. Each coach ends up with 10 artists by the end of the blind auditions. This creates for a total of 40 artists advancing to the battles.
