Predictive text is an input technology used where one key or button represents many letters, such as on the numeric keypads of mobile phones and in accessibility technologies. Predictive text could allow for an entire word to be input by single keypress.
It isn't part of Word, but you already have predictive text in Windows 10. It's part of the onscreen keyboard. In the keyboard, click the Options key at the bottom right, next to Help. At the bottom of the Options dialog box, check the box for Use Text Prediction if it isn't already checked.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Language and input.
- Scroll down to 'Keyboards and input methods,' and tap Samsung keyboard.
- Under 'Smart typing,' tap Predictive text.
- Tap the Predictive text Switch to On.
- If desired, tap the Live word update switch to On.
In the settings for your keyboard, tap Text correction. Turn on the Auto-correction toggle switch to enable the autocorrect feature. Turn off the Auto-correction toggle switch to disable autocorrect.
Using AutoComplete Tips
- Select AutoCorrect Options from the Tools menu.
- Click your mouse on the AutoText tab.
- Depending on your version of Word, select either the Show AutoComplete Tip for AutoText and Dates option or the Show AutoComplete Suggestions option to enable this feature, or deselect the option if you no longer want it.
- Click on OK.
You have two ways to access the relevant menu — either head to Settings > Language & input > Google Keyboard, or long-press the comma (,) button when using your keyboard, choose the gear icon that pops up, then select “Google Keyboard Settings”. Once you've arrived at the correct menu you need to tap “Text correction”.
Autocorrect is a software feature that corrects misspellings as you type. It is integrated into mobile operating systems like Android and iOS and is therefore a standard feature on most smartphones and tablets. Autocorrect makes it easier to type words on a mobile device with a touchscreens.
Word prediction is an "intelligent" word processing feature that can alleviate writing breakdowns for a range of students simply by reducing the number of keystrokes necessary for typing words. Word prediction works like this.
How to Turn off Autocorrect on Android
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap System > Languages & input > Virtual keyboard.
- You'll see a list of all installed keyboards, including default installations.
- Tap Text correction.
- Scroll down to the Corrections section and tap Auto-correction to toggle it off.
- That's it!
Turn off predictive text in Android
- Open the Settings menu on your phone or tablet and select Languages & Input.
- Tap Virtual keyboard under Keyboard and input methods.
- Select Android Keyboard.
- Select Text correction.
- Slide off the toggle next to Next-word suggestions.
How To Turn Off Autocorrect On An iPhone
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap Keyboard.
- Tap the switch next to Auto-Correction.
- You'll know that Auto-Correction is off when the switch is gray.

Open “Settings“. Select “Keyboard“. Scroll to the bottom and select “Add New Shortcut…“ Type the word you wish to add in both the “Phrase” and “Shortcut” fields, and auto-correct won't bother that word again.
Step 1: Open the settings app on your iPhone. Step 2: Tap on “General” and then scroll down to find “Keyboard.” Step 3: Tap on “Keyboard” and then find “Predictive.” Step 4: If the switch is turned “ON”, you need turn it “OFF” and then turn it “ON” again after a few seconds.
Clear Personalized Data
- > General Management.
- Tap on Language & Input.
- Tap on Samsung Keyboard.
- Tap on Reset Settings.
- Tap on Clear Personalised Data.
- Note: If you don't want to show predictive words anymore you can switch the predictive text option off.
- Tap on Reset Keyboard Settings.
To reset your keyboard dictionary, head into your iPhone's settings and tap on General. Scroll down till you see Reset and tap on Reset Keyboard Dictionary. You'll then be prompted to enter your passcode (if you have one set) and then have the option to fully reset the predictive words from showing up.
Use predictive text

*This only works with the default android browser, "Internet". OK, I guaranty this will work: Settings, Language and Input, under Default, tap the Settings icon next to Samsung Keyboard, tap Predictive Text, remove the check mark from Personalized Data, or you can turn predictive text off completely.
