With iOS 14, you might see an orange or green indicator in the status bar on your iPhone. These indicators appear when the microphone and/or camera are being used by an app. An orange indicator means the microphone is being used by an app on your iPhone.
Unlike other Apple Watches (e.g. Series 3), the microphone has a Single hole on the Crown Side, while there are two holes for speaker output (on the opposite side).
Make a call
- Open the Phone app on your Apple Watch.
- Tap Contacts, then turn the Digital Crown to scroll.

Apple says that Siri is not eavesdropping at all. Instead, the software's ability to respond to a voice command is programmed in. So, it's not really listening at all times. The iPhone can only hold a small amount of audio, and it only records what happens after it is triggered by the “Hey, Siri” command.
Siri on the Apple Watch could be revealing conversations with your doctor and even your sexual activity through accidental recordings made by the smart assistant. However, without receiving the prompt, the watch might still record up to 30 seconds of audio and store it.
Follow one of these steps to turn it off: Quickly press the Digital Crown (the round button) on your Apple Watch three times in a row. On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver > turn off VoiceOver.
To activate your Android phone's voice assistant, all you need to say are wake words "OK Google" or "Hey Google." Your phone uses only your audio starting with — or just before — the wake word and ending when you've completed your command. Once you do, Google will no longer listen for your voice.
