Every Xbox One comes with a new Kinect sensor — a powerful peripheral that lets the game console read your heart rate and respond to your voice commands.
Note To connect your Kinect sensor to an original Xbox One console, simply plug the Kinect sensor cable into the back of the Xbox One console.
Position the sensor between 2 feet (0.6 m) and 6 feet (1.8 m) from the floor, the higher the better. Ideally, the sensor should be within 6 inches (15 cm) above your TV. Do not place your sensor directly on top of the console. Be careful not to drop the sensor.
Take the Kinect apart. Solder a 12v power supply to the USB 3.0 powered-B side pins where the connector joins the PCB (these are extra pins in addition to the standard USB 3.0 spec for "special" device power input/output) Connect the Kinect to the PC with a standard USB 3.0 B cable.
Hardware. The Kinect contains three vital pieces that work together to detect your motion and create your physical image on the screen: an RGB color VGA video camera, a depth sensor, and a multi-array microphone. The camera detects the red, green, and blue color components as well as body-type and facial features.
Here's what to try to resolve this issue: Unplug and reconnect your headset/Kinect. Ensure your microphone is not muted. If you do not have a headset, but do have a Kinect, make sure you have it enabled for use in chat (Go to settings with a Kinect plugged in, you should see a setting “Kinect mic for chat”).
If your console won't turn on, it may simply need a power reset. Often, power issues are due to the power supply resetting after a power surge. To reset the internal power supply, follow these steps: Unplug the power cord from the console.
