Photo printers are getting so smart that most of them can print without a PC. The Epson Stylus Photo RX580 improves on even that level of autonomy: it scans, restores, prints and copies without ever needing to be connected to a computer.
Most modern printers have Wi-Fi capability, allowing you to set them up without connecting to any of your computers. The printer will need to be in range of your wireless router in order to connect to it. If your printer does not have wireless capabilities, see the next section.

Wireless. As the name implies, a wireless printer doesn't need to be plugged into anything other than a power source to operate properly. Communication between the printer and the computer or network is established through either a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.
Plenty of printers have wi-fi, which means you can print easily without wires from your laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone. But before you can start printing, you must first connect the printer to your home network - all you'll need is a wireless router and a wi-fi printer.
Print from a standard printer
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- Open the page, image, or file you want to print.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page
- Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, and then click the name of your printer.
- Click Print & Scan.
- Click Maintain Your Printer.

How to Print a Blank Page
- Start Microsoft Word and open the document in which you plan to insert a blank page.

Use the printer control panel to print a Network Configuration Page.
- On the printer control panel, press the Wireless button . The wireless menu displays.
- Press the button next to Settings, scroll to Print Report, and then press OK.
- Scroll to Configuration Page, and then press OK.

- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
- Once HP Print and Scan Doctor is open, click Start, and then choose your printer.
