Stored programmesYou don't need a TV licence to watch programmes on catch-up TV services, with the exception of the BBC's iPlayer. You can watch anything stored on services such as ITV Hub, All 4 and My5, as long as you don't watch live TV. These services are, after all, paid for by advertising.

TV LicensingWhen you choose to spread the cost of paying for your TV Licence by monthly Direct Debit (monthly DD), you usually pay part of it up front. This means your payments will be higher in the first six months.
As Netflix does not broadcast its titles live, you do not need a TV licence to use the service. You don't need a licence if you only ever watch titles on-demand or on catch up on services other than BBC iPlayer.

No, a TV Licence will usually last for a year. For example, if you buy a licence today, it will cover you for up to 12 months – the rest of this month and 11 months after that.

The Monthly Direct Debit Scheme enables individuals to pay by monthly direct debit for their current TV Licence in six monthly instalments, and in the seventh month start to pay in advance towards their next licence in 12 monthly instalments.
You can find your 10-digit TV Licence number on your current TV Licence or on your bank statements, as well as any letters or emails we've sent you. Some banks show your TV Licence number alongside your payment on your statements.
A licence currently costs R265. 00 per year, which amounts to approximately 73 cents a day. Concessionary licence holders only pay R74 a year.
TV LicensingOn 1 April 2019 the cost of a colour licence will rise by £4.00 to £154.50. The cost of a black and white licence will rise by £1.50 to £52.00. The Government is responsible for setting the level of the licence fee and announced in 2016 it would rise in line with inflation for five years from 1 April 2017.
