- a). Tap on Mute while on active call or on dialing screen as shown below.
- b). After muting the call Mute icon will turn green as shown below and the voice call will be muted.

While on a call on iPhone

Participants can unmute themselves by pressing *6. Press *5 again to mute all participants. Participants are NOT able to unmute themselves. Press *5 again to return the conference to open conversation mode.

How to Silence Your Android Phone
- Some phones feature a Mute action on the Phone Options card: Press and hold the Power/Lock key and then choose Mute or Vibrate.
- You might also find a Sound quick setting. Tap that icon to mute or vibrate the phone.

Press *52 to mute conference participants in lecture mode. Participants will not be able to unmute themselves. Press *53 to unmute conference participants.
Open Settings on the device. Tap on Advanced features. Select Easy mute. Tap on the toggle switch to enable Easy mute.
The "Mute" button looks like a microphone with a slash through it. Muting the call will turn off your iPhone's microphone. You'll still be able to hear the other person, but they won't be able to hear you.

Rukbat likes this. Muting means that you don't hear them - so if the background noise suddenly stops, you've been muted. (They can't mute you so they don't hear you.) As long as you can hear the background, you're not muted.

This problem occurs due to apparent under-sensitivity of the iPhone proximity sensor, which turns off the screen (and touch capabilities) when the phone is held to the ear.
