If you want to restrict access to certain Microsoft Teams files, you can simply edit the access permissions in SharePoint or OneDrive. This will lock the respective files preventing users from editing them.
Click New from the toolbar and choose: Folder, Document, Spreadsheet or Presentation, to create a new file (or folder) and save it into the Team Channel Document Library (all Team members can create or upload documents). 3. Click Close to save the file and return to Teams.
On the Files tab of your Team, select the ellipsis icon next to the file you'd like to edit. Choose Edit in Teams, which will bring up the file in Teams in the same online editor we're used to with SharePoint files.
In order to delete a file, navigate to the files tab within the specific team/chat where the file is located. Click the three dots next to the file you'd like to delete and click “Delete”. This will delete the file for everyone in the group.
> Manage team. Select Settings > Guest permissions. Check or uncheck the permissions you want to use. Currently, you can give guests permission to create, update, or delete channels.
Share a file with your team in a channelSelect Browse Teams and Channels to choose from all the files you have access to in Teams, and then select Upload a copy or Share a link. Select OneDrive or Upload from my computer (depending on where the file is located), and then select Upload a copy or Open.
Manage team settings and permissions in Teams
- Go to the team name and click More options. > Manage team.
- In the Settings tab, check or uncheck the options or permissions you want to use.
Step 1: Right-click the Word document that is locked for editing and chooses to open with WordPad. Step 2: Now the Word document is unlocked automatically. You can edit it in your way. Step 3: Click the top left icon and choose Save.
As you already know, Microsoft Teams allows multiple users to access and edit shared files from their client. However, to protect multiple simultaneous edits, Microsoft Teams may lock the file for other users when it is in use by one of the team members.
