EndNote is a bibliographic management software that organizes bibliographies and references when writing essays, articles and other manuscripts. The software helps to manage and organize references, insert in-text citations and generate appropriate reference lists.

Working with references in Word

How to install additional styles
- Download the style.
- Double-click the style file. It should open in EndNote.
- On the open style, go to “File Menu” and choose “Save As”.
- Click on “File Menu” and choose “Close Style”
- Then Go back to your EndNote Library and go to "select another style".

To install on Chrome. Search Google for: Chrome Capture Reference, and find the link to the Chrome store. Select Capture Endnote Reference. To install it, click on the Add to Chrome button next to it.
In Word, click the File tab and choose Options. Select Add-Ins from the left hand menu. Under the heading Active Application Add-ins, check whether you have the EndNote Cite While You Write COM Add-in (see the Type column). If it is not listed, then go down to the bottom of the window to the Manage drop-down list.

- You should see the below EndNote files listed under "Global Templates and Add-ins" EndNote CWYW Word 2016.dotm. EndNote CWYW Word 2016.bundle.
- If any of these file(s) is unchecked, check it, and click OK.

As a safeguard use a backup copy of your document before proceeding. Then with your Endnote library open, go to the MS Word toolbar and locate the Endnote tab in the ribbon. Find the option “Convert Citations and Bibliography” and click the pulldown menu. Then click to select “Convert Word Citations to Endnote”.
How to Add Footnotes and Endnotes in Word 2016
- Click the mouse so that the insertion pointer is to the immediate right of a word or text that you want the footnote or endnote to reference.
- Click the References tab.
- From the Footnotes group, choose either the Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote command button.
