100 or ₹ 100. Banks use a 'slash followed by dash' to indicate the end of number mainly to prevent tampering of numbers on a cheque like Rs. 100/- or INR 100/- or ₹ 100/-. In words, we write and read One Hundred Rupees or Rupees One Hundred Only.
If you want to enter Rupee symbol while entering in the cell, you can use shortcut key Ctrl+Alt+$(4) combination. If you want to update many rows, then you need to use the method which I have mentioned above. This method of typing Rupee symbol works with Excel 2016 also.

- Download the rupee font symbol from above link.
- Unzip the file.
- Go to Windows > Start > Control Panel > fonts.
- Copy and paste the download rupee symbol font to the fonts folder.
- Open your MS word and click insert symbol.
- Browse for "Rupee Foradian" and you will find this rupee symbol.

Inserting ASCII characters
To insert an ASCII character, press and hold down ALT while typing the character code. For example, to insert the degree (º) symbol, press and hold down ALT while typing 0176 on the numeric keypad. You must use the numeric keypad to type the numbers, and not the keyboard.
