Simply dab the cardboard tube into the paint or onto the ink pad until the surface is covered and then press it on paper to create an impression on the surface of the paper. It may take a few tries to get an even image as the cardboard is porous and it may absorb the ink or paint before you can stamp with it.

To do this, use your craft knife to cut away any rubber that won't fit on the surface of your wooden block (I had to make my square into a circle), and use a strong adhesive, like super glue, epoxy or E6000. Don't forget to stamp the top of your wooden surface before you glue down your rubber!
If you don't have a Cricut machine, you can still make your own stamps using craft foam and wooden blocks. Making stamps and cutting foam with Cricut is a great beginner Cricut project if you are new to Cricut.

Dye inks are considered the "standard ink" for stamping. They're easily the most popular and utilized. These are the ink pads that you see more often than not. Within the general dye ink category, there are a variety of different types of dye inks, like distress inks, waterproof dye inks, and water-based dye inks.
For most types of paper, dye-based rubber stamp inks are your best bet. It's permanent, dries incredibly quickly, and a good all round ink. Dye based inks have a consistency that is similar to water.
In addition to stamp pads, bottled acrylic paint can be used in stamping. It is applied to the decorative portion of the stamp using a small paintbrush. This technique is preferred when using foam stamps. Using a straight up and down motion, place the rubber stamp onto your desired surface.
Lightly, with even pressure, press your stamp onto the surface once. Do not press your stamp too firmly onto your surface as this will make your stamp wall collapse and make a messy imprint. Do not rock your stamp, as this can result in a completely smudged image. Lift your stamp from your surface, and voila!
Rubber stamping isn't just about making handmade cards (although there is no doubt that this is a great use for rubber stamps!). There are many other ways that you can use your stamps. Other materials such as glass, fabric, clay and more can be used for stamping.
