Finding your meter serial number
- Your meter serial number is usually found on the front of the meter, next to a barcode.
- We also put it on your energy statement.
- The supply point number (your MPRN or MPAN) is a reference point for the property where the meter is located, not the meter itself.
Your ESID Number, or Electric Service Identifier, is a number that is unique to your property address. Pronounced “Easy I.D.” it's also known as an ESIID, ESI ID or ESI-ID. You can't find your Texas meter number or ESID on your actual physical meter. But you can find it using our free ERCOT ESID Lookup Tool.
Check meter number: To know your meter number, press 65 then the blue button, the meter number is the 11 digit numbers that displays on the screen. Balance: To check balance, press “07” on the keypad and then press the blue button. The available balance will be displayed in this format.
Now, I am going to show you how can you check electricity bill status. Type Recharge1.com in your Google Bar.
- Go to PayTM app.
- Go to the section “Pay electricity Bill”.
- The app will ask for the electricity board.
- Update your consumer number.
View your current smart meter bill
Your online account gives you access to view your gas and electricity bill online. And as your smart meters send your meter readings to us automatically, we'll know exactly how much energy you've used. So when you view bills online, they should always be accurate and not estimated.Multiply the ampere reading you noted from the multimeter 110; this relates to your home electricity voltage. The answer will equal the figure you worked out from the electricity meter readings if your meter is accurate. Expect up to a 5 percent difference.
To get a reading from these smart meters:
- Press 9 on the keypad.
- A series of letters will appear: IMP KWH.
- Then you'll see 8 digits (e.g. 0012565.3) followed by kWh at the bottom right of the screen.
- This is your read, so in this case your reading would be 12565.
Have a look at the display panel on your Smart meter, normally it'll be blank. Press button 'A' or 'B' to wake the screen up. Press button 'A' again to show the meter reading and make a note of the numbers including any zeros. There's no need to note down any number(s) after the decimal point.
To read correctly:
- Read the dials from left to right.
- If the pointer is between two numbers, always take the lower number.
- If the pointer falls between 9 and 0, write down 9.
- Ignore red dials, ones marked '100 per rev' and the largest dial.
Dial meter
Meter reading is 6456. Read the four dials from left to right along the bottom row only – ignore any others and write down the number closest to each pointer. When the pointer is between two numbers, write down the lower number. If the pointer is between 9 and 0 write down 9.To read your electricity meter, press the button on the right to wake up the meter screen. You should see the words 'Active Import Register', and a number which is your meter reading. The display will automatically cycle through other screens, but this first one is your reading.
To read the meter:
- read the first 5 dials from left to right.
- ignore the dial marked 1/10 (if there is one)
- write down the number that the pointer has just passed.
- underline any number that the pointer is exactly over when you write it down.
Landis and Gyr E110 Electric Meter
The Landis + Gyr E110 electricity meter is a simple but highly accurate device allowing users to measure kWh in single and two rate variants.Dial meter
- Stand directly in front of your meter.
- Read the dial on the left first. (Ignore the dial underneath).
- Look at the two numbers the pointer is between and record the lowest number. (If the pointer is between 9 and 0, record 9.)
- Do the same with each dial, reading left to right.
The meter token is what you use to load the Prepaid Meter. When you have your token, go to your Prepaid Meter, open the card door of your unit and insert the meter smart card. Then enter the PIN code that is on your token and voila - your digital power consumption device is recharged.

You've got power
Buy from an Eskom appointed/accredited legal vendor. Prepaid tokens are also available at leading supermarkets, banks, or you can use the internet alternatively your cellular phone to get electricity through online vendors or your bank.Eskom has temporarily taken the prepaid electricity vending system offline to effect repairs.
Prepaid meters are able to count the flow of electricity used in KWH. When the consumer requests to recharge the electricity, the request is sent to the municipality's vending system. The vending system then checks the tariff applicable to the meter, and then converts the rand amount into the required number of units.
Converting to a prepaid meter is a painless process that is free to City Power clients. The procedure for conversion is: Customers will receive a notice from City Power alerting them of the conversion. The customer must call City Power at the number on the City Power notice to arrange for the conversion.
Avoid queues and buy electricity online
- How Do I Register?
- Step 1: Register your 11 digit meter number, located on the front of your electricity meter or on your swipe card via sms to 36073 (R5 sms fee will apply),
- Step 2: Register via e-mail on the WireIT, the service provider appointed by the municipality, homepage
Why is my meter blocked? This means that the municipality has placed a block on your meter, stopping you from making a prepaid electricity purchases. This means that you would have to contact the municipality directly to sort this out as a token can only be issued once this has been resolved.
You might be having a communications problem between your customer interface unit (CIU) and the meter. Try checking if you can access your meter number, if you can't, then switch off all the appliances and try loading the token again.
The token has probably been entered already. Error 30 – Technical error on your meter – please switch your meter off as well as your electricity mains and wait a few minutes. Turn back on and retry the token. If this error 30 persists you should contact your municipality and get a technician to have a look at the meter
Bypassing an Electricity meter is illegal whether provided by a government utility or by a private service provider. This is theft and in some countries classed as a crime against the country so beware.
- Get an Eskom meter card.
- Buy a voucher.
- Enter the voucher number into the customer Interface Unit (CIU)
- Customer Interface Unit is credited.
- You've got power. Use the meter number on your card or receipt to buy your prepaid electricity. Buy from an Eskom appointed/accredited legal vendor.

Turn back on and retry the token. If this error 30 persists you should contact your municipality and get a technician to have a look at the meter
What to do if you think you have a faulty credit meter
- Switch off all the appliances in your home. If you're checking your gas meter, this includes any pilot lights.
- Check if the numbers on your meter's display are still moving. You'll need to wait a while before checking this.
