We mostly just say "UChicago students." When lining up for the graduation processional a few years ago, the organizers were trying to get us to shout "Go Maroons!" in unison, and it felt so unnatural. In my home country, we used to be called “Chicago boys”, but now it has a negative connotation :/ Not baboons?
At UChicago, the admissions committee considers a candidate's entire application—academic and extracurricular records, essays, letters of recommendation, and optional testing—and there's no one piece of information that alone determines whether or not you would be a good fit for the College.
Basically the purpose of this essay is two part: UChicago wants to make sure you know and value what they offer, and they also want to see how you're going to make use of these opportunities to reach your goals for the future.
Our distinctive form and style of education and our rigorous pursuit of knowledge have established us as one of the world's most influential institutions of higher learning. Our faculty of scholars and scientists from across the University teach students of all backgrounds and intellectual interests.
Connect those details to your values. We often call this the “so what” element of the essay—don't just tell UChicago how great its school is (it knows). Get into why those details connect to some of your core values by reflecting on what they'll allow you to pursue or explore, and why those things matter to you.
The typical bachelor's degree consists of 120 credits to complete. The general education requirements make up about 40 credits while a major will require about 40-50 credits. This leaves roughly 30-40 credits available for electives, or a second major.
At UChicago, students can declare multiple majors, but choose one as their primary major. This is the major that is written on a student's diploma.
To have the best shot of getting in, you should aim for the 75th percentile, with a 1570 SAT or a 35 ACT. You should also have a 4.48 GPA or higher. If your GPA is lower than this, you need to compensate with a higher SAT/ACT score.
The quarter system is a unique part of the traditional UChicago education. It allows students to take fewer courses each quarter than a semester system, but more courses over their entire legal education. Students also get the advantage of easing into the final exam process.
Last year, 16,501 out of 22,696 applicants were admitted making UIC a moderately competitive school to get into with a strong chance of acceptance if you meet the requirements. UIC Chicago is one of the best schools and depending upon the areas you want to major in , you might find varying ranking to compare it with others. My son and I attended their Scholars reception and we enjoyed the courteous staff and the great Chicago surroundings.

UIC will never be confused with a top-tier party school. "It's a college campus, but it's also in the middle of the city," said 24-year-old UIC student Mike Kamowski. "That's a huge difference." On one hand, Chicago operates as one heck of a college town, with a plethora of bars and clubs.
In addition to the eight Ivy League schools (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, UPenn, and Yale), we'll also consider eight equally selective non-Ivy League national universities: Caltech, Duke, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Northwestern, Stanford, UChicago, and Vanderbilt.
If you are going into business definitely DePaul. Anything business and arts related, DePaul beats UIC. Anything hard sciences and social sciences UIC beats DePaul. DePaul's just getting better and better as the years go on.
