If you look into the Wi-Fi extender market, you may find some that are labeled "dual-band." What this means is that they cover both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz band. A 5Ghz band will provide a faster download speed than 2.4Ghz, but 2.4Ghz travels further. As such, a dual band extender will use whichever is best at the time.
1 Plug in the extender halfway between your hub/router and the area you wish to extend wi-fi to. 2 Give the extender 20 seconds to boot up, then the range lights will scroll up and down while it searches and connects to your router. After about 30 seconds, the flashing will stop and the signal quality will be shown.

WiFi repeaters work by receiving wireless signal and rebroadcasting it, but single band repeaters have to receive, then retransmit each packet of data using the same radio on the same channel. Dual band repeaters get around this by connecting to the router on one band and outputting a WiFi signal on the other.
1 Plug your additional broadband extender directly into a wall power socket. Make sure the socket's switched on. 2 Press the Link button on that extender for 5 to 8 seconds. Wait for the Power light to go back to steady green.
You can only plug one broadband extender into the home hub, that becomes the master. The Mini Wifi Home hotspot units then pair with that one unit, as shown here. If you plug more than one broadband extender into the home hub, it will cause the Ethernet ports to lock out as they see a bridge condition.
