Choosing the right textbooks for a class
- Ask around for ideas and don't constrain yourself to colleagues at your institution.
- Actually read big chunks of your chosen book to make sure it motivates the material well and explains it clearly.
- Look for a lot of overlap between what you're teaching in class and the content of the book.

- Free space. Young students don't read; they browse.
- Visuals. No matter what the age of the target audience is, a modern textbook must have visuals.
- Age-appropriate material.
- Well-balanced textbook design.
- Textbook storyline.
For the learners the textbook is one of the most important sources of contact they have with the language. It is a framework or guide that helps them to organize their learning. It is helpful to involve students in the process of adapting textbooks.
