The American Rescue Plan Act contains new extensions for people receiving food assistance during the pandemic. The American Rescue Plan Act, the $1.9 trillion Covid-19 aid package that became law on March 11, extends it through September 2021.
Who can use the app? Anyone who is currently receiving benefits (like SNAP/food stamps, TANF/welfare, or SSI) on an EBT card can use the app. All you need is an Android device or iPhone/iPad and you can download the app for free.
Each of your benefits will remain in your account(s) for 365 days (12 months/one year). Any benefit not used during the 365 day period will be removed from your account. Once a benefit has been removed from your account due to age, it cannot be replaced.
Net income, or household income after deductions are applied, must be at or below the poverty line. Assets must fall below certain limits: households without a member who is elderly or has a disability must have assets of $2,250 or less, and households with such a member must have assets of $3,500 or less.
Benefits are made available on the first day of every month. EBT benefits availability is staggered over the first 10 days of the month based on the last digit of the households' assistance unit number. Weekends and holidays do not affect the schedule.
