In England you can apply for a free older person's bus pass when you either reach the female State Pension age (whether you're a man or a woman), or celebrate your 60th birthday in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The pass will give you free travel on local buses anywhere in England.
Free bus passes for older and disabled people protected for the future. Government changes legislation to protect free bus travel scheme. Disabled and older people in England will continue to benefit from free off-peak bus travel for the foreseeable future, keeping them connected with their local towns and cities.

Freedom Pass holders can travel free on local bus services in all other areas of England between 9.30 am and 11.00 pm on Monday to Friday and at any time during weekends and public holidays. They can continue to use their Freedom Pass on selected National Rail services after 9.30 am and selected river services.
If you're a claimant of Jobseeker's Allowance or Universal credit, then there is a travel card available that offers reduced travel costs. This discount means that some benefit recipients can get a discount on selected rail tickets and bus journeys in England, Wales and Scotland.
You can use your bus pass on local bus services anywhere in England at these times:
- 9.30am to 11pm, weekdays.
- Anytime at weekends or bank holidays.

You can use Pensioner Travel Vouchers for free travel on NSW TrainLink Regional services in Economy Class within regional NSW. You can use them for four one-way trips annually or two return trips annually.
You can use your pass from 9am until the last bus weekdays, and all day weekends.
If you're over 60, but still too young for a Freedom Pass, a 60+ Oyster card could be a good option. It still provides free travel on the London Underground, Overground, trams and buses, as well as some TfL Rail and National Rail services, but you can't use your pass outside of London.
Your pass also entitles you to add tram and train to your pass, for an annual charge. This gives you unlimited off-peak travel on Metrolink and trains within Greater Manchester. You can then travel on Metrolink trams and trains after 9.30am on Monday to Friday, and all day on weekends and public holidays.
Free older person's bus pass means you can travel free on local buses in England. London Freedom Pass gives you free or discounted travel for London residents across London transport networks, including trams, national rail, the underground, river services, and buses.
UK residents are entitled to free or subsidised travel in their 60s. If you are above the age of 60, you are entitled to a senior pension rail card, that gives you reduced fares for many journeys within the UK.
Carers and companions of disabled people would get free travel on all Transport for London (TfL) services, including the Tube, Overground and buses, under the new plans. But under the new plans, anyone with a Disabled or Older Person's Freedom Pass could also apply for a 'companion pass' if they need help travelling.
The English National Concessionary Pass (Disabled Person's Free Travel Pass) gives disabled people free travel by bus anywhere in England during 'off-peak' times - between 09:30 and 23:00 Monday to Friday. All day at weekends and on public holidays.
Aged 60 or over? Save 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain with a Senior Railcard. With a Senior Railcard anyone 60 years or over can save 1/3 on all Standard and First Class, Anytime, Off-Peak and Advance fares for £30. The department will automatically send you the
Free Travel Card if you: are aged 66 or over. are getting a social welfare pension.
The Free Travel Scheme is also available if you are a specified carer for a person getting:
- Constant Attendance Allowance.
- Prescribed Relatives Allowance.
- Payment from abroad.
- You may be eligible to get a Free Travel Companion Pass if you are medically assessed as.

Travel free any time on bus, tram, Tube, DLR, London Overground and TfL Rail. We've changed the hours you can travel with your Older Person's Freedom Pass to reduce crowding on our services and help social distancing. You will only be able to travel on our services from 09:00, Monday to Friday.
Currently anyone aged 66 and over, living permanently in the State, is entitled to travel under the free travel scheme. Others who may apply include those in receipt of the disability allowance, blind pension, carer's allowance and invalidity pension.
The full new State Pension is £175.20 per week. The actual amount you get depends on your National Insurance record. The only reasons the amount can be higher are if: you have over a certain amount of Additional State Pension.
You can call the Future Pension Centre and ask for a State Pension statement. Your statement will tell you how much State Pension you have built up so far based on the National Insurance contributions and credits that are on your National Insurance record at the time your statement is produced.
You apply online for a 60+ London Oyster photocard from two weeks before your 60th birthday. You need to provide: Active email address.
You can apply for a new over 60s bus pass, Young Scot or new disabled bus pass online on the Get Your NEC website. For all other bus passes, including renewals and lost cards, please email one-edinburgh@edinburgh.gov.uk. If you're unable to apply online, you can book an appointment to visit one of our libraries.
Just like the Freedom Pass, it will also allow them free travel outside of morning peak hours on other national rail services in the capital. However, unlike the Freedom Pass, 60+ Oystercard holders will not be able to use their card to travel free of charge on local bus services in other parts of the country.

Freedom Pass applications one proof of name and age, and one proof of address is
required.

The Scottish Government is introducing a country-wide travel smartcard to improve access across all different modes of transport. In October, the Scottish Government announced plans for the Saltire Card – a smartcard that can be used across public transport networks in Scotland.
If your NEC is lost, has been stolen or damaged please request a replacement card by contacting your Council as soon as possible, or please contact SPT if you live within the Strathclyde area. Customer services staff will be able to cancel your existing card and order a replacement which will be sent directly by post.
The England bus pass only covers travel in England. It doesn't give you free bus travel in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. With the National Entitlement Card Scottish residents aged 60+ can travel for free on most local and national bus services in Scotland.
