Research has proven that whole powdered cow milk can be a cheaper and safe alternative for feeding lambs. If it can be obtained, goat's milk is another option for feeding lambs. As with cow's milk, additional fat or oil should be added.
Creep feeding is a means of providing supplemental nutrition to nursing lambs and kids. It is accomplished by giving lambs and kids access to extra feed or better pasture, while excluding their dams. Lambs and kids that are born in the winter months are often creep fed, since pasture is usually not readily available.
Although we recommend washing your lamb's legs, you do not want to wash your lamb's body. This is because you want to keep their natural oils, called lanolin. The only time you want to wash your lamb's body is when you shear with a fine or surgical blade.
Electrolytes help to fight dehydration (caused by diarrhoea) and help replace lost nutrients. Here are some tips for bottle feeding lambs:

Feedstuffs high in palatability for young lambs include soybean meal, ground corn, and alfalfa hay. These feeds should be replaced daily to keep fresh. A simple mixture of 80-85% ground or cracked corn and 15-20% soybean meal, with free choice high quality alfalfa hay is a very palatable early creep ration.
Sheep prefer to drink still water as opposed to water from a moving stream. It is generally recommended that streams be fenced off and that livestock not be allowed to drink from natural water sources.
