The U.S. Army measures physical aptitude through the Army Physical Fitness Test, or APFT, which requires soldiers to complete three events: 2 minutes of push-ups, 2 minutes of sit-ups, and a 2-mile run.

Army Physical Requirements

Juan Gonzalez, a scout with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-32IN takes physical fitness very seriously. He regularly maxes out the APFT (a score of 300), and recently maxed out the ACFT (a score of 600), making him the second Soldier in the Army to achieve such a goal.
A 300 is the best possible score one can achieve, but all you need is a passing score. The APFT standards require Soldiers to achieve at least 60 points per event in order to pass.
The night before the test, drink water and eat fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. Runners also prefer the carbohydrate-boosting energy of pasta the night before a race. On the day of the test, eat a small snack that consists of a complex carbohydrate and a protein (i.e. whole grain toast with peanut butter).

Run strides 2 to 3 times per week. In the second half of some of your easy runs, do 4 to 10 by 20 to 30 second strides faster than mile pace. Do 1 or 2 workouts a week focused on running mile effort or a bit slower, targeting vVO2.The fifth event of the Army Combat Fitness Test is The Leg Tuck. It assesses grip strength, shoulder adduction and flexion, elbow flexion and hip flexion. Marine Corps Physical Requirements

In order to graduate from Navy basic training, you must score at least a "Good (Low)" score on the normal Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT). For men age 17 through 19, that means 62 sit-ups, 51 push-ups and running 1.5 miles in 11 minutes.
You do a one mile run, one minute of sit-ups and one-minute of push-ups. We started out running at least a mile, a mile every other day. Now we've worked up to two to three miles a day. It all depends on your pace, after you take the one-one-one assessment, they'll put you in the right group you want to be in.

You have to go to basic training, and you do not necessarily have to go to war. Everyone in the military has to be ready to go to war if you are called.
