With the recent extension, PUA includes up to 86 weeks of benefits, beginning February 2, 2020. The date you can start collecting these benefits depends on when you were directly affected by COVID-19 and the date you filed your PUA claim. The legislation will give single adults who reported adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less on their 2019 tax returns a one-time check for $1,200. Married couples who filed jointly will receive $2,400. Families will get an additional $500 for each child under 17.
The IRS emphasizes that there is no action required by eligible individuals to receive this second payment. Eligible individuals who did not receive an Economic Impact Payment this year – either the first or the second payment – will be able to claim it when they file their 2020 taxes in 2021.
Past due child support will not be taken out of second stimulus check. The second stimulus bill prohibits seizing stimulus checks for most kinds of debt, including from private creditors and banks.

If you didn't get the full amount of the first or second Economic Impact Payments, you may be eligible to claim the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit and must file a 2020 tax return even if you don't normally file. The third Economic Impact Payment will not be used to calculate the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit.
