Overall, Yoshinoya's Orange Chicken was really good and compares well to Panda Express although I wouldn't say it dethrones the bamboo-eating bear. That being said, it is great for late night eats as my local Yoshinoya is open until 3 AM, while Panda Express typically closes by 9 PM.Oct 15, 2015

Yoshinoya makes as good a beef bowl as any other Japanese restaurants that I've been to that actually serve it (not many do). The beef has a good slightly vinegary, soy flavor and is fairly tender and quite thin, add the tendon and there's quite a bit of texture to the beef.May 15, 2010

The curry roux has been significantly revamped, and 14 kinds of spices are spiced with cumin, cardamom, and cloves, soy sauce and bonito soup are effective, and it was 'developed to best match the ingredients of Yoshinoya's beef bowl'. I tried to eat it out. I bought it by takeout. Completion of meaty curry.Aug 6, 2020

It is such a disappointment that this restaurant which serves healthy food does not have brown rice. The vegetables are overcooked, the sauces are too sweet, and the rice is sometimes soggy, but it is still healthier than a hamburger at most other places.

Yakiniku is the name for barbecue in Japan. Because it focuses on drawing out the natural flavor of the meat, many cuts of beef do not come marinated or pre-seasoned. Additional seasoning is often no more than a bit of salt, a squeeze of lemon, or a splash of “tare†(dipping sauce) after the meat has been grilled.Aug 9, 2016
The beef. To get an authentic Gyudon taste, you need to use a cut of fatty beef. This not only keeps the thin slices of beef moist, but the fat itself also contributes a smooth richness to the sauce. Yoshinoya is famously picky about their beef and only uses short-plate from American beef.
Commissioned by Yoshinoya, the experiment found that eating gyudon beef daily for three months did not raise the risk of developing lifestyle diseases.Dec 10, 2015
Unlike Gyudon, the meat for Yakiniku Don is first-grilled or pan-fried. Then, dressed with the sauce called “Yakiniku no Tare†and placed on a bowl of rice. Supermarkets in Japan usually stock various kinds of ready-made Yakiniku no Tare sauces, so the donburi dish, Yakiniku Don, is very easy to prepare.Jun 7, 2021
It's typically made with ribeye or chuck that's been shaved extra thin on a meat slicer. You'll be able to find good meat for gyudon in Japanese supermarkets, but if you don't have access to that, any beef intended for Philly cheesesteaks will work (even the frozen stuff!).Aug 10, 2018
