There is always an easy and fast solution that is using a pet spot carpet cleaner. But if you don't own one of these pet spot carpet cleaners, you can always use vinegar solution and baking soda or hydrogen peroxide to get rid of the urine smell.
Take one-quarter teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent and mix it with one cup of warm water. Be sure to specifically use this kind, not laundry detergent or dish soap; these may contain bleach or lanolin. If you have a spray bottle, pour the solution into it. Spray the urine stain, aiming directly onto the carpet.
Sprinkle baking soda onto the area that smells and work it down into the fibers of your carpet using a broom. People are hesitant to use a lot of baking soda, but the more you put down, the better it will get rid of the odor.

- Move your furniture: Clear any furniture off the carpet to access the whole surface area.
- Add the baking soda: Sprinkle baking soda liberally all over the carpet —either right from the box or using a fine-mesh sieve.
- Let it sit: Wait a few hours or ideally overnight for the baking soda to absorb the odors.
In a clean spray bottle, mix one cup of distilled white vinegar with one cup of water and 2 teaspoons of baking soda. Shake it up to mix the ingredients, and then spray on the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then blot with towels until clean.

Pour the hydrogen peroxide over the stain and then cover it with a clean cloth soaked in hydrogen peroxide. Cover the cloth with plastic wrap, weighting it with a book if necessary. Allow this to sit overnight or for at least 8 hours. The hydrogen peroxide should remove any stains and eliminate the urine odor.
Hydrogen peroxide does a great job at removing dog pee. Just put some peroxide into a spray bottle, soak the stain in a few sprays, and let it sit for about 10 or 15 minutes. To finish the job, clean it up with a rag. Remember, don't rub: dab or blot.
