Provider tiersSome plans have categories of providers, called tiers. These tiers help you see which providers have a lower cost to you. Tier 1 means you will pay a lower copayment or coinsurance. MassHealth members are eligible to receive acupuncture for treatment of pain. MassHealth provides a total of 20 sessions of acupuncture for treatment of pain per member per year without prior authorization.
Although wisdom tooth extraction is an outpatient procedure, it is considered a form of major surgery. During the surgery, general anesthesia or local anesthesia, will be used to make it more comfortable, but after it wears off, you can expect some discomfort and pain.
For years, wisdom tooth removal has been a fairly common practice, as many dental experts advise taking them out before they cause problems. But now some dentists don't recommend it because of the risks involved with anesthesia and surgery and the cost of the procedure.

Costs. Straightforward wisdom tooth extractions can take place 'in the chair' at the dentist's rooms, and can cost up to $400 per tooth approximately, with consultation and x-ray fees on top of this.

Oral surgery could potentially be billed as a medical procedure. And while dental procedures aren't typically covered by medical insurance, there may be components that are covered under certain circumstances.
