Please note that processing times vary by applicant, but on average you can expect your application to be processed for Global Entry and FAST within 6 months, SENTRI 12 months and NEXUS 6 months. This includes vehicle enrollments. The vetting process cannot be expedited.
Expedited land border crossingsGlobal Entry members may use the SENTRI lanes when entering the U.S. via land from Mexico, if they are in possession of a Global Entry card and are driving in an approved vehicle.
Using Your Global Entry CardYou may use this card for expedited entry into the United States via the SENTRI and NEXUS lanes. The card is not valid for entry into Canada via the NEXUS lanes.
Sentri card can be used to travel between Mexico, Canada & USA by land, sea or air without the need of a passport.
The SENTRI pass is designed for people frequently traveling across the U.S.-Mexico border. Pass members can cross the border at 13 different stations in four states. The pass saves travelers hours of waiting in lines moving through immigration. This is one of the most expensive traveler programs available.
The NEXUS program allows pre-screened travelers expedited processing when entering the United States and Canada. You can get more details at NEXUS' website. SENTRI: Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection. The SENTRI program is geared towards travelers who travel by land into the U.S. from Mexico.
After signing in, on the Home page click on the "Manage Membership" button associated with the SENTRI program. On the next page click on the "Update Vehicle License" button. On the Update Vehicle License page select the vehicle to update and click on the "Next" button.
You will need to bring your valid passport(s) and one other form of identification, such as a driver's license or ID card to the interview. If you are a lawful permanent resident, you must present your permanent resident card.
If you are a permanent resident or citizen of the US or Mexico you can apply for a SENTRI pass. If your case was dismissed you must provide certified court records to be considered for the SENTRI card program.
How to Apply for a SENTRI Pass
- Create a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) System account.
- Log in to your TTP account and complete the application.
- Pay the non-refundable fee, which is required with every completed application.
- After acceptance of your completed application and the fee, CBP reviews your application.
Your parent or legal guardian does not have to be a SENTRI member. Regardless of your age, you must create a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) System account, pay a non-refundable application fee, and schedule an interview at a SENTRI Enrollment Center.
Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection
The questions will be similar to those on the SENTRI application form. You might be asked why you want to apply for a SENTRI pass or to verify your names and home address. The interviewing agent will explain the rules of the SENTRI program and answer your questions.
For one year, members of this Trusted Traveler Program will be able to continue to cross the border by the designated SENTRI lanes even with their expired card as long as they have initiated the renewal process before the expiration date.
The option to manage vehicles should be available on the right side of the Dashboard. After clicking Manage Vehicles, select Delete for the vehicle you want to remove, then confirm your action. I am a current SENTRI member and I have new license plates.
Visitors to Guaymas, Mexico often eat seafood and especially shrimp, but not many purchase shrimp to take back home. But even if you buy frozen shrimp in Guaymas, it will only be, at most, a day or two from the water. You are allowed to bring 5 lbs. of shrimp per person into the United States, so shop accordingly.
Ready Lane is a dedicated primary vehicle lane for travelers entering the U.S. at land border ports of entry. SENTRI and NEXUS lanes are reserved strictly for the use of SENTRI, NEXUS and Global Entry card holders.

Tijuana Border Fast PassThe pass allows drivers to enter a special lane to the border. Look for the blue sign “With Pass Only”; have your fast pass ready and show it to the police officer in the booth. He will give you access to the lane.
SENTRI card holders have access to the following:
- TSA PreCheck lanes. At more than 150 airports.
- Global Entry benefits. Use of Customs Kiosks when returning from air travel abroad.
- NEXUS benefits. Use of NEXUS lanes when returning to the U.S. from Canada.
The Fast Pass Lane is a special lane for tourists and medical tourism only. This lane allows you to enter the border line at a designated entrance with your Fast Pass, cutting off a significant portion of the border line. A Mexican police officer will take your Fast Pass and allow you to proceed.
