That will leave only two women-only colleges in Cambridge: Murray Edwards and Newnham. Oxford lost its last in 2008, when St Hilda's opened its gates to men.
Although some mature students take A levels, AS levels, BTEC Nationals and Scottish Highers, most universities will not ask you to have formal qualifications. You can search for the entry requirements for any undergraduate courses you are interested in here: students/coursesearch/.
You can apply during your gap year and make a post-qualification application, which means that you'll already know your A level, IB or equivalent results when you apply so we would normally be able to make you an offer without academic conditions.
The University of Cambridge doesn't enter Clearing and so has NO COURSE VACANCIES through Clearing. Further information about Clearing is available from the UCAS website.
Oxford University does not participate in UCAS Clearing, Extra or Adjustment. There are no further places available at Oxford University for any courses starting this year. This is earlier than at most other universities.
What happens if you get higher than your predicted grade? Come results day, if you do end up getting better than your predicted grades, you might be able to find a place on an alternative course by going through Adjustment, or applying the following year with your actual results.
Students apply to Cambridge a year before the start of the course. Adjustment provides students who go on to achieve very highly with an opportunity to be reconsidered once they have their final results.
From 6 July – 20 October, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you're not already holding an offer from a university or college, and the course still has places.
UCL does not have any Adjustment or Clearing vacancies.
Cambridge does not systematically make contextual offers, where lower offers are given to students from underrepresented backgrounds. The scheme is restricted to UK students seeking to study the same subject that they originally applied for.
We currently have no places in Adjustment or Clearing, but we would like to wish you the best of luck in your search for a place elsewhere. If you would like to apply for Durham University for 2020 entry please see information about our application process here.
UCL will not accept any students with a C grade at A Level, and UCL does not participate in clearing.
