The dialogue suggests that Angel was in Sunnydale for a period of three days, ending the night prior to the episodes start, when Angel returned to Los Angeles. While Angel believed making himself a vampire again and turning back the day would save her life, she would later die anyway in two years time ("The Gift").

Over the course of this season, Angel's friendship with his colleague Cordelia evolves into romance, but circumstances prevent him from ever confessing his feelings. Angelus, however, manages to escape, kills the Beast for fun and wreaks havoc until an old friend, Willow, manages to return his soul for the second time.
Angel (David Boreanaz) is resurrected mysteriously by the unseen Powers That Be. While Buffy is happy to have Angel back, he seems to have lost much of his sanity in Hell. Buffy helps Angel recover but, having seen Angel's demonic side, Buffy's friends distrust him until he saves them from a monster.
He says and acts as though he does, but he's been given the chances and he chose not to take it both times. Spike had one chance - "Destiny". And no matter what reasons he had, he chose to drink from the cup and become human.
Spike ends up falling in love with Buffy during Season Five, but she does not return the feelings. She is concerned and disturbed of his growing obsession over her.
Connor died at Angel's own hand so that he could be "reborn" into his new life, technically fulfilling the once-false prophecy that "the father will kill the son." Other than Angel, and some special cases like Cordelia and Eve, everyone's memories were rewritten to accommodate this new reality.
The fact that Angel did eventually forgive Wesley is huge.
Angel returned for a fifth and final season after Buffy the Vampire Slayer came to an end, as he and the rest of the team (now including Spike) brought the battle against Wolfram & Hart to a close, but his story wasn't over there.
Sadly, at the end of the series, Buffy did not end up with Angel, or anyone at all. Despite the show ending, a comic book series produced by Buffy creator Joss Whedon has continued. At the end of both the comics and the TV series, Buffy ended up with friends with her two romantic interests, vampires Angel and Spike.
I thought it was quite straightforward, Angel simply couldn't trust Lindsay. He'd worked with him before and Lindsay still went back to Wolfram and Hart. He'd been the thorn in Angel's side on countless occasions and Angel didn't want to risk him causing any more problems.
Spike sacrifices himselfViewers were left in tears after Buffy's love interest, Spike (James Marsters), sacrificed himself in order to save Buffy and the Potentials. Spike used his powerful amulet to create sunlight, which was channelled through his soul, and the light caused the vampire army to turn to dust.
Secret revealedIt was really a trap set by the Angel team who had all realized that Cordelia was possessed, but she was saved by Connor. With his further assistance — including the kidnapping of a virgin for sacrifice —, "Cordelia" was able to give birth to Jasmine. Jasmine's birth.
Did They or Didn't They?: There was some fan speculation over whether Angel had sex with Faith, but it's confirmed in the spin-off series that they didn't. Faith is down because she couldn't get Angel to sleep with her and lose his soul.
In a recent interview with Variety, Boreanaz explicitly stated that there's no chance he'll reprise his role as Angel. “No. I'm all for people redoing it or whatever, but I'm too old,†he told the publication. At least he's honest.
