Monzo makes money in the UK through services on top of your bank account like selling insurance or collecting fees from overdrafts. It's not immediately clear which services will be available in the US, and it seems the company is still working out these details as it gradually launches cards and gets feedback.

CUSTOMERS with the app-based bank Monzo can now receive their salaries a working day early. This is thanks to its new "Get Paid Early" feature, which enables users who receive their cash via BACS (Bank Automated Clearing System) credit to get it at 4pm the day before they're due to be paid.
