Routine service can take up to 18 weeks from the day an application is submitted to the day a new passport is received. The 18-week timeframe includes up to 12 weeks for processing and 5 to 6 weeks for mailing times on the front and back end.

9. Are passport agencies and centers still reopening? Yes. While we are no longer referring to the phases of reopening because changes in phases no longer impact the services you will receive, all agencies and centers are processing applications.
What are my fees? Answer: There are two ways to get a United States passport in one week. One way is to personally visit a regional passport agency. To do this, you first need to set up an appointment by calling 1-877-487-2778.
If you do not receive your passport days before your trip, you may try to schedule an appointment at a regional agency by calling 1-877-487-2778. Regional agencies cater to individuals who need to travel urgently and those who are traveling due to a life-or-death emergency. They can issue passports in 72 hours or less.
COVID-19 and the economy of scarcity, worker shortages and slow delivery has produced a massive backlog in passport applications. Historically, passports have been processed in an average of four to six weeks, according to a national expediting service called RushMyPassport.com.

Worry not: You can actually get a passport in 24 hours. The newest (and possibly easiest) option is to step into one of 2,000 FedEx locations across the country. FedEx has teamed up with RushMyPassport to offer a speedy new passport or a renewal in as little as one business day.

U.S. citizens are generally required to present a valid U.S. passport when traveling to The Bahamas, as well as proof of anticipated departure from The Bahamas. U.S. travelers coming for tourism will not need a visa for travel up to 90 days. All other travelers will need a visa and/or work permit.

The average waiting time shown is for people that have made a standard (non expedited) application. Gov.Uk website state that it takes 3 weeks to get a UK passport and also advise not to book any travel until your passport arrives which is good advice.
