Maine started with the 5th Grade Passport, and Colorado and Utah soon followed, the Free Skiing Kids Passport Program has expanded to New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Idaho and Washington, Michigan and Canada. The Free Ski Pass is usually for kids in grade 4 through 7.
Before you go skiing, you will need a lift ticket. A lift ticket provides you with access to the mountain and to the ski lifts. Park City Mountain, known for its family-friendly atmosphere, is a great place for beginner and intermediate skiers. Park City Mountain Resort is Utah's premier snow resort featuring one of the longest snow seasons in the state. Night skiing is offered every evening. The ski resort is located 34 miles east of Salt Lake City.
Park City resorts such as The Canyons and Park City Mountain offer diverse terrain for all abilities, including good concentrations of intermediate runs. Deer Valley has a higher percentage of beginner terrain than the other two Park City resorts.

Many ski areas are raising the price of a day lift ticket to artificial heights on purpose in order to encourage people to buy a season pass instead. With season passes, the ski areas get most of their money right up front, even if the season ends up bringing very little snow.
