While the United Club has a handful of amenities, it does not offer any showers. Apparently the reason for that is the Polaris Lounge will have shower rooms, and since international business-class passengers will have access, they wouldn't have any need to use them at the United Club.
United Club members can bring along their spouse and dependent children under age 21, or up to two adult guests, according to membership rules. Authorized users on a card account do not receive their own United Club membership and are eligible for access only if they are traveling with the primary cardmember.
Elite status
United Premier Gold (and higher) members have access to United Clubs when traveling internationally on any Star Alliance carrier, regardless of their class of service. These travelers can access United Clubs with any same-day Star Alliance boarding pass, including domestic travel on United.No. You must surrender your day pass upon entering the club. If you plan to visit multiple United Clubs on the same day, you will need multiple day passes. Some clubs will allow re-entry and/or use of other UA Clubs at same airport -- inquire at the entry desk (it typically involves a stamp on your boarding pass).

You can generally purchase a membership to United Clubs for $550 per year, but if you don't travel enough to justify the cost of the membership, you could select a one-time pass, which usually costs $59 per pass.
United Club members can use their digital membership card through the United app on their iPhone® and Android devices to access the United Club. The digital card is only valid at United Club locations.
Eligible for purchase and use by any American Airlines customer 18 years of age or older. Starting November 1, 2019, One Day Pass visitor must hold a same-day ticket for airline travel on American or a partner airline1 that allows clearance through security for flight departure and access to the Admirals Club location.
Restrictions apply for Domestic First Class passengers travelling with United Airlines in the United States, where Domestic First Class customers do not have access to United's Club lounges. You will need to show your boarding pass in Domestic First Class for a Star Alliance member airline operated flight.
Customers in United Polaris business class may access a United Polaris lounge at departure, connecting and arrival airports 3 along their eligible same-day routing.

Buying a club membership directly costs $550 per year for everyone except United Premier Platinum and Premier 1K elites (who pay $500 and $450, respectively). Otherwise, if a United Club membership is important to you, then this card is absolutely worth the annual fee.
A far more cost-effective way to access these lounges is by opening the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ Mastercard®. For a $450 annual fee, the primary cardholder gets full Admirals Club membership (which includes certain partner lounges), and authorized users get access to Admirals Club lounges.
There are a lot of different ways in which you can gain access to the Delta Sky Club. You can purchase a single visit pass, hold a credit card that offers complimentary access, travel in first or business class on Delta (or their partners), use a lounge membership or through your Delta Medallion Elite status.
To earn Gold status, you need 45,000 status miles. The flights can be operated with any Star Alliance airline. As you don't have to qualify for Silver status first (unlike with Miles & Bonus), SAS gives you the opportunity to earn Star Alliance Gold status with a single return flight.

The United Club at Heathrow is situated underneath the United Global First Lounge, which is only available to passengers traveling in first class on United (the carrier still offers first class on some flights, though it's phasing it out) or Star Alliance carriers as well as Global Services members.
Like most airport lounges, the United Club has their own set of rules that guests are expected to abide by. Furthermore, no sleeping or smoking is allowed in any of the United Clubs.
It is what it is. I choose not to fight the system and tend to tip fairly well. But then there's the issue of airline lounges. Both American and United offer sit-down dining and bar service to their most premium customers at lounges around the country.

Polaris lounges are United's business class lounges which paid club members do not have access to. They feature sit down dining and as international lounges they'll offer showers.
