Select All Emails In Your GmailIf you have emails in your inbox from months or years ago, there is a very simple way to delete all of them. Look for the option to “Select all xxxx conversation in Primary”, this allows you to select more than 50 emails in your inbox for deletion.
Go to your Google account settings page (to make sure you're logged into under the correct username, click the profile icon in the upper right corner). Select “Data and personalization” from the far-left menu. Scroll to “Download, delete, or make a plan for your data” and select “Delete a service or your account.”
To delete all unread emails:--Type is:unread in search bar of your Gmail. -- All unread emails will appear on your page. -- Select all. You will see that only 50 emails have been selected by Gmail for the deletion.
You can recover these emails by requesting an archive, but that is only if you were smart enough to file away that particular email four years ago. Messages are set to expire at 1–2 years maximum (I have mine personally set to 30 days and delete unless I file it away). Old messages are like dirty laundry.
If your incoming or sent messages are automatically placed in Trash, the cause is a misconfigured filter, or a setting on your Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. To resolve this issue, please make sure you haven't created any filters with the action Delete it that would affect the messages in question.
