Set your goal between your 30-minute intense exercise calorie burn and your 60-minute light exercise calorie burn. Example #1: If you average 750 calories for an intense 30-minute workout and 850 calories for a lighter 60-minute workout, I recommend setting your Move goal in the middle to 800 and leaving it there.
The Individual Activity Challenge for a month can vary from closing all three activity rings 20–30 times in the given month; to exercising on average anywhere from 50–75 minutes per day during the given month; to covering a specified number of miles in a month; or closing your Move ring 28–30 times a month.
Change your activity goals

- Swipe up, then tap Change Goals.
- Tap to increase or decrease the number of active calories for your daily Move goal, then tap Next.
- Tap to increase or decrease the number of minutes for your daily Exercise goal, then tap Next.
In the Activity app, look for the days when you tend to be least active, and set a Move goal that is achievable for those days. That way you are much less likely to break your streak. And on the days when this Move goal is too easy, Apple provides Move Goal 200%, 300% and even 400% medals you can target instead.
Once you start the competition Apple Watch and iPhone will keep tally of your points each day with a little chart, and at the end of the week one of you will be awarded the win and get a unique badge. Actually if you both score maximum points of 4200 points for the week (600 a day x 7) you both get awarded the win.
To make sure that you earn Exercise credit during walks, allow the arm with your Apple Watch to swing naturally. The Activity app relies on arm motion and an accelerometer to track movement, but the Workout app can use the accelerometer, the heart rate sensor, and GPS.

When you look at the combined data in the Health App of iPhone (pocket) and apple watch (arm), this should be more accurate than the Fitbit which cannot rely on the more stable pocket position. Sometimes you just cannot detect a step from the arm position. So iPhone + Apple Watch are counting more steps in this regard.
Calibrating your Apple Watch for improved Workout and Activity accuracy
- On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
- Tap Privacy > Location Services.
- Make sure that Location Services is turned on.
- Scroll down, then tap System Services.
- Make sure that Motion Calibration & Distance is turned on.
- Continue with the steps below.
Try this sequence of steps: On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - turn Fitness Tracking off. Restart both devices by turning both off together, then restarting your iPhone first. Return to the Fitness Tracking setting and re-enable it.
Complications display information from apps and can be directly added to Watch faces. Some basic examples include the date, weather, and battery life. Adding complications to a Watch face is a convenient way to view the information you're looking for with just a quick glance at your Apple Watch.
Open the Activity app and use Force Touch. Click on Weekly Summary. Scroll down a bit and you will see Steps. This will show your steps so far.
While the Fitbit focuses on health tracking, the Apple Watch is the better package if you also want a designated smartwatch. You'll get more third-party apps, much tighter integration with the iPhone and faster performance overall.
