Driver lie angle is not a huge factor to worry about in fitting because: 1. Modern titanium heads cannot be bent to alter the lie angle without special equipment and heat damaging the head. As above, Wishon drivers can be bent to specific lies.
You may hook your hybrids because these clubs are designed to cause the ball to go high up in the air. A large angle between the shaft and the top of the club head of the hybrid also results in hooks because this causes the club to rotate more than what is needed.
Making a lie angle adjustment on your fairway-woods is not recommended as it may damage the club if not done by an expert, and if the loft is relatively low the exact lie angle becomes less important.
Irons vs Hybrids Club Stats
In general terms, a hybrid will travel 8 to 12 yards further than the corresponding iron, but in reality accuracy and consistency are the keys. Due to the fact that most golfers carry either a hybrid or an iron, it is very difficult to compare them directly.Hybrid and Iron Loft Comparison
| Hybrid Loft | Equivalent Iron |
|---|
| 14-16 | 1 |
| 17-19 | 2 |
| 19-21 | 3 |
| 22-23 | 4 |
The 4-iron and 4-hybrid estimates are 160 to 210 yards for men and 120 to 170 yards for women. The 5-iron and 5-hybrid ranges are 150 to 200 yards for men and 115 to 160 yards for women, while the 6-iron or 6-hybrid ranges are 140 to 190 yards for men and 110 to 150 yards for women.
Even though generally a 3-hybrid replaces a 3-iron, an average golfer will probably hit the ball a bit further distance using the hybrid, typically
10 yards further.

| Club | Average distance | Loft |

| 3-hybrid | 190 yards | 21-24 |
| 4-hybrid | 180 yards | 25-28 |
| 5-hybrid | 170 yards | 28-32 |

PGA Master Professional Dennis Clarke has devised the following guideline: If you hit a 7-iron 140 yards or less, a 6 iron should be your longest iron. The 3, 4 and 5 should be hybrids. If you can hit your 7-iron 150-160 yards, think about nothing longer than a 5 iron and look at 3 and 4 hybrids.
| Thomas AT725 | Loft | Replaces a Thomas : |
|---|
| 6 Hybrid Iron | 30° | 6 Iron / 13 wood |
| 7 Hybrid Iron | 34° | 7 Iron / 15 wood |
| 8 Hybrid Iron | 38° | 8 Iron / 17 wood |
| 9 Hybrid Iron | 42° | 9 Iron / 19 wood |
If you're unsure whether to go fairway or hybrid to replace a 5-iron, think about which you currently prefer to hit from the turf. And if you're a big fan of fairways don't be embarrassed to fill loft gaps between your driver and irons with two or three woods; there's no rule that says you have to use hybrids.
The 4 hybrid is the best replacement for a 4 iron golf club. The difference between a 4 iron and 4 hybrid is not large. Both clubs can hit the ball at a similar distance, with the 4 iron hitting the ball 4 yards further. Modern 4 hybrids however have improved significantly.

Remember, you don't hit down on your hybrid the way you do with your irons. This means you want more of a sweeping golf swing motion. And your body position can do a lot to help you reach this goal.
"This greater face-to-back dimension of the hybrid long-iron replacement heads allows the center of gravity to be positioned much farther back from the face. This, in turn, results in a much higher trajectory for a shot off a hybrid club compared to a traditional long iron of the same loft.
This additional weight makes the center of gravity for a hybrid much lower than in a standard iron. The larger size and lower center of gravity make hybrids easier for weekend golfers to hit solid and consistently get the ball up in the air.
Some players find hybrid clubs easier to hit than fairway woods due to the shorter shaft length. A hybrid is played more like an iron, while a fairway wood has a longer shaft length. Fairway woods are a good option for players seeking distance from a good lie in the fairway or from the tee.
Compared to a driver, hybrids have a much higher loft of between 20º to 26º, making it a lot easier to get a good connection on the shot and easier to lift the ball up into the air. Your driver will typically sit at around 7º to 15º in loft, making it a lot harder to strike through the ball and lift it into the air.
Driving Irons Vs Hybrids – Which Wins On Distance? On a scale, hybrids put the most spin on a ball, driving irons put a little less on it and regular long irons put the least spin on a ball. These clubs are here to give you forgiveness though, they are actually more about how far mis-hits go, think of it that way.
Hybrids are designed with the same loft but their clubhead is much easier for many beginners to swing and make contact with the ball. Hybrids can be more forgiving and easier to hit from the rough which can help beginners who struggle launching the ball out of the thick grass with irons.
The pros are using hybrids regularly, and many start their iron sets with a 6-iron and carry four hybrids in their bag (except for some of the high clubhead speed players such as Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson). But that may not be the right choice for every golfer.
What is a 16 Degree Hybrid Equivalent to? The 16-degree hybrid is equivalent to 1 iron or a four-wood traditional driver. It is a good idea to replace your old conventional wood club with a 16 degree hybrid for an improved shot and better distance coverage.
The average distance of a 21 degree hybrid is 194 yards (177 meters). An average a male 18-handicapper will be able to cover a distance of 194 yards with this club while a 90 MPHswinger will most often hit the ball to a distance of 185 yards. The extra distance the hybrid offers can be significant.
Between 7 fairway wood vs hybrid, 7-wood is known to be the best choice of replacement for a 3- and 4- hybrid club. A 7-wood also has a 22 degrees loft, which is 8 degrees higher than the hybrid clubs. In the tall grass, the higher loft makes it easier to hit off the ball.
Equivalents for a 20-Degree HybridFor ladies, a 20-degree hybrid is still in the equivalency range for a 5-wood or 2-iron. For men, though, a hybrid between 20 and 22 degrees is charted as being closer to a 7-wood or 3-iron.
What Club Does an 18 Degree Hybrid Replace? The 18 degree hybrid replaces the 5-wood golf club. The loft angles offer several advantages to the golfers of all levels. The expert golfers can give a shot at lowering their handicap, whereas the beginners can practice their golfing skills and increase the distance covered.
Hybrids generally replace rather than supplement long irons, but as a player is free to carry any set of 14 clubs that they wish, it is not unheard of for a player to carry both a 3-hybrid and a 3-iron, with the hybrid instead replacing the fairway wood; the higher-mass iron clubhead would be preferable to the hybrid
A 2 hybrid golf club is often chosen as a replacement for the 2 iron club. The 2 iron is preferred over the 2 iron as it helps golfers with inconsistency and airborne shots. The 2 hybrid helps players to overcome problems that many players have when using long iron, and make playing easy and enjoyable.
