Is it needed? No. There are plenty of alternatives if you want cloud storage and features similar to OneDrive. Or you may elect not to use cloud storage at all.
What you need first
- Download the OneDrive app from the App Store.
- Log into OneDrive with your Microsoft Account.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the native Files app.
- In the left hand menu pane, tap on edit.
- Enable the OneDrive toggle.
On your phone, you can usually find your files in
the Files app . If you can't find the Files app, your device manufacturer might have a different app.
Find & open files
- Open your phone's Files app . Learn where to find your apps.
- Your downloaded files will show. To find other files, tap Menu .
- To open a file, tap it.
If you can't find files you deleted, check whether you're logged in to the correct Microsoft account—your files might be safely on another OneDrive, such as your personal OneDrive account. To check, sign out of your OneDrive and sign in again using the other account.
If your OneDrive is not syncing, then visit its Settings and click on the “Office” tab. From here, you need to un-check the option of “Use Office to sync Office files that I open” and save your selection by clicking the “Ok” button. Restart the drive again to fix this issue.
Manage access to a file or folder
- The Links Giving Access section shows the links that have permissions to the file or folder. Click the ellipsis () to see the users that the link has been shared with.
- The Direct Access section shows people and groups who have direct access to the file or folder.

With Office and OneDrive or SharePoint, multiple people can work together on a Word document, Excel spreadsheet, or PowerPoint presentation. When everyone is working at the same time, that's called co-authoring.
Like Google Drive, OneDrive doesn't limit how many devices you can sync to. You can have as many PCs, Macs, phones, and tablets as you need. OneDrive is particularly convenient because it's built right into Windows 10.
Go to OneDrive and sign in with your personal Microsoft account, such as Outlook.com, Live.com, Hotmail or MSN. When you type Family, OneDrive will give you the option to share with specific members by surfacing their names, or you can select Your family to share with your entire family.
The problem basically occurs because of the Windows upgrade and drive name. Since the SkyDrive and OneDrive names are different, your system treats them differently and hence the 2 separate folders. This also is the reason for different data because some apps might still be set to store data in the older folder.
