Also question is, can a bad spark plug ruin a coil pack?
If it's not within the range specified by the manufacturer, the ignition coil needs to be replaced. However, it's possible for bad coils to still pass this test. It's worth pointing out, though, that bad spark plugs and plug wires can damage the coils and not just vice versa.
Also, can you replace only one coil pack? It is possible to change just one faulty coil pack. However when one coil fails, the remaining coils may soon fail also.
Consequently, what happens if you don't change your ignition coil?
Yes. A malfunctioning ignition coil will cause loss of power and lower fuel efficiency but that will not present an immediate safety issue. If the coil malfunction is causing misfiring, this will allow unburned fuel to enter and permanently damage the catalytic converter from overheating.
Will a car run without coil pack?
The car will still run if 1 coil is unplugged but it'll obviously be spraying raw fuel into the exhaust which can damage your cat and 02 sensors, ( expensive ) and not advisable..
