Save and restore recent versions
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- Click on the file you want to download.
- At the top right, click More .
- Click Manage versions.
- Next to the version you want to download, click More .
- To save a copy to your computer, click Download.
Starting July 10, 2019, Google Photos and Google Drive will no longer automatically sync. We're making this change to simplify how things work between the two services. You can read more about the changes in our blog post.
On May 4, 2020 Google rolled out a new feature update in its Google Drive app version 4.2020.
Right-click the file, choose Manage Versions from the menu and then click the Upload new version button to upload the updated file to your Google Drive. That's it. The file name and the file's URL won't change and thus all the old shared links will now automatically point to the new version of your file.

Use Backup & Sync
- Install the application on your computer.
- On your computer, you'll see a folder called "Google Drive."
- Drag files or folders into that folder. They will upload to Drive and you will see them on drive.google.com.
How do I update my Android ™?
- Make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings.
- Select About Phone.
- Tap Check for Updates. If an update is available, an Update button will appear. Tap it.
- Install. Depending on the OS, you'll see Install Now, Reboot and install, or Install System Software. Tap it.
An unknown issue occurred and
Google Drive needs to quit: Restart
Google Drive sync.
After you manually sync files, it will take some time for Backup and Sync to complete.
- On your computer, click Backup and Sync .
- Click View # unsyncable files.
- Click Retry all.
- If this doesn't work, restart Google Drive sync.
To do this, click on the Google Drive icon in your computer's taskbar or system tray, then select Preferences. Then check the box next to "Only sync some folders to this computer." Select which folders you'd like to sync to your Google Drive folder, then click Apply changes.
Here's how to set it up and get everything synced.
- Step One: Download and Install Backup and Sync.
- Step Two: Choose Which Folders Will Get Synced from Google Drive.
- Step Three: Choose Other Folders On You PC to Sync.
- Step Four: Tweak Your Photo Uploading Settings.
By default sharing a folder in Google Drive (in your case "Big Folder") - any file or folder inside it (in your case "Small Folder") is shared with the same people. Therefore, if you have not changed settings, everything you move from "Big Folder" to "Small Folder" will be shared the same. And no one will lose access.
When you choose “Update Existing”, all files in that folder will be added to the folder with the same name. The files inside the folder will be added as separate files, indicated with “(1), (2)” suffix.
Google Docs will automatically save your updates to a file as you are working on it.
Note: Files that are not part of any folder in Google Drive will sync automatically. When you sync files from Drive, it creates a new folder on your computer by the name Google Drive where it stores the contents from Drive. You can either create a backup of local folders on Drive or sync Drive to your computer only.
2.Check file synchronization activity on the Google Drive website
- On the left, click My Drive.
- In the upper right, click the information icon to reveal the right panel.
- In the right panel, Click Activity.
Select Android phones running on Android Pie or Android 10 cannot create backups for their data in Google Drive. To see if you are affected, head to Settings > System > Backup. The feature should be enabled, but some users may see the Backup Now button greyed out.
Open Settings and under Sync, tap on Google. You can now disable and re-enable sync app or service wise, which is cool. Just tap on the service that's giving the 'sync is currently experiencing problems' error, wait a few seconds to let it take effect, and then re-enable sync again.
New Google Drive Desktop App to Replace Backup & Sync and Drive File Stream Clients Later This Year. Later this year, these two clients will become one: Google Drive for desktop. Google explains that for Drive File Stream users, this is just a name change, and all functionality will remain the same.
In order to solve the error that Google Backup and Sync won't open Windows 10, you can also choose to reinstall Google Backup and Sync. After that, you can go to the official website and download the Backup and Sync from Google again. Next, install Backup and Sync again on your computer.
Restart Backup and SyncSome users have discovered that quitting and restarting Backup and Sync helped resolve the Google Drive sync issue. To do so, go to system tray, click on the sync icon and select Quit Backup and Sync option.
