According to Daniel Boone National Forest officials, it's rare to see a bear as far north in Kentucky as the Red River Gorge. They say the most likely reason why the black bear was so close to the area was to find food.
There are many safety issues in the Red River Gorge. The clifflines in the Red River Gorge are beautiful, but they are also dangerous. Every year, visitors are injured or killed by a fall from a cliff in the Danial Boone National Forest.

Red River Gorge camping is the perfect way to experience all that the Red River Gorge has to offer. Luckily for campers, there are a number of Red River Gorge campgrounds to choose from. In addition to the campgrounds listed below, dispersed camping in the general forest area of the gorge is also permitted.
This “shortcut” is an 11-minute one-mile journey up the steep terrain surrounding the Bridge. Once you reach the top you'll be able to walk atop this miraculous 30-foot wide “sidewalk” in the sky. The roundtrip time for the Sky Lift is 22 minutes and costs $13 for adults and $10 for kids.

Elm Tree Drive, the only way into Mystery Falls, is a single-lane road. Once there, there is parking set up for six or seven cars. The folks ahead of us were from Watford, and they too were not sure where the trail began.
Fall Creek Falls State Park
Mammoth Cave National ParkWhen the water level is up after a rain, there is a waterfall right at the historic entrance. There is also a 15.7-mile hiking trail loop around this area, which is used by both hikers and horseback riders.
Hours are 9AM to 7PM, dependent on weather. Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is the perfect destination to introduce the family to the thrill of horseback riding. The park offers guided trail rides that are easy enough for the first timer and still adventurous for the more experienced.
Shanty Hollow Lake and its surrounding trails remains open for safe, socially-distanced recreation for small groups of up to 10. This 114-acre lake in Warren County is a great escape to nature just north of the city past the Richardsville community.
