You can extend your warranty by purchasing the AppleCare Protection Plan, and extend your coverage to two years from the day you purchase your new iPhone. In general, the editors at MacRumors feel that AppleCare is worth getting for Apple laptops that you plan on keeping for longer than one year, and iPhone, iPads, and Apple Watches due to the accidental damage coverage. Will a US iPhone work in the UK? Apple lists various iPhone models, all of which will work in both the UK and the US. So yes, a US-bought iPhone will work in the UK - provided it isn't locked to a US network. Be sure to buy a SIM-free version if you do buy abroad.
To be really clear, AppleCare is only available in India for phones purchased in India. If you purchase the phone in any other country AppleCare will not be honored in India.
