Give the Delica a try, it's probably one of the best all around spydercos you could try, and it will let u see if u like them before you dive into any more pricey models.
The market dictates the price. If people aren't willing to pay it, the price will come down, but so long as they keep cranking out solid products, folks are all too happy to pony up for a Spyderco.
